Sometimes you know exactly what’s bothering you. Other times, you just know that something doesn’t feel right.

You may be overwhelmed, anxious, grieving, struggling in a relationship, going through a major change, or finding yourself repeating the same patterns even though you desperately want things to be different. You might also be the person who holds everything together for everyone else and has realized that somewhere along the way, you stopped checking in with yourself.

Individual counselling is a place where you don’t have to have the right words or have everything figured out before you walk through the door.

My approach to counselling is personal, supportive and judgment free. I believe that feeling comfortable with your therapist matters. You should be able to talk honestly about the messy, complicated parts of life without worrying about being judged or feeling like you need to present a polished version of yourself.

We can explore what you’re experiencing now, where some of those feelings or patterns may be coming from, and what you would like to change moving forward. Counselling may help with anxiety, self esteem, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, trauma, boundaries, people pleasing, life transitions, feeling overwhelmed or simply feeling disconnected from yourself.

The goal isn’t to become a completely different person. It’s to understand yourself better and create a life that feels healthier, more manageable and more like your own.

Some experiences change us.

Grief and trauma don’t always fit neatly into a timeline, and healing rarely happens in a straight line. You can have good days and still be grieving. Years can pass and something can suddenly bring everything back. You can understand logically that something is over while your mind and body are still trying to make sense of what happened.

And grief isn’t limited to death.

We can grieve relationships, family, friendships, health, the life we thought we would have, or even versions of ourselves that no longer exist.

Trauma can leave its own imprint. You may find yourself anxious, disconnected, easily overwhelmed, constantly on guard or struggling with relationships and trust without always understanding why.

Counselling gives you somewhere to bring those experiences without being expected to “move on” or heal according to someone else’s timeline.

We can work together to understand what you’ve been carrying, how those experiences may still be affecting your life today and what healing looks like for you.

You don’t have to forget what happened or stop loving who you lost in order to move forward. Healing can mean learning how to carry what happened differently, while slowly making room for yourself and your life again.

Most couples don’t come to counselling because they’ve stopped caring about each other. Often, they come because they care deeply but have become stuck in ways of communicating and relating that neither person knows how to change.

You may be having the same argument over and over again. One person may feel unheard while the other feels criticized. There may be distance, resentment, broken trust or a feeling that somewhere along the way you stopped being a team.

Sometimes couples aren’t fighting at all. They’ve simply become disconnected.

Couples counselling creates a space where both people can slow things down and begin understanding what is actually happening underneath the conflict.

Rather than deciding who is right or wrong, we look at the relationship itself. What keeps happening between you? What does each person need? What isn’t being heard or understood? And what would need to change for the relationship to feel different?

We can work on communication, recurring conflict, emotional and physical intimacy, trust, boundaries, major life transitions and rebuilding connection. Every relationship is different, which means couples counselling shouldn’t feel like following a script. We work with what is actually happening between the two of you and focus on creating changes that can continue outside of the counselling room.
